Picard's View of Riker and Troi's Wedding
Captain's Personal Log:
During the rehearsal, I looked at this lovely couple. Oh, they were obviously meant for each other. Soul mates to their very core.
I stood where I would be standing during the actual wedding
ceremony and observed these two. I was going to be marrying two of Starfleet's finest officers. It brought me so much pleasure and joy to see these two finally deciding to take the plunge into marital bliss.
This event is going to be the second biggest event in my life time. The first of course will be my own wedding with Beverly.
I smiled as I look at Will and Deanna. Will the finest first
officer any captain could ever have. It gives me great pleasure to know I took part in helping shape his future as a captain and I can't wait to see him off to his new ship.
Now, Deanna. Oh, what can I say. She is a wonderful Ship's
Counselor, but she's more than that to me. She's like a daughter to me. The daughter I never had and I will be ceremoniously giving her to one of the finest men I've ever met. Will will take good care of her, I'm sure of that.
I am, also very honoured to be performing their wedding ceremony. Even said so in my toast to them at the rehearsal dinner. Add to that, the fact that they are the two finest people one could ever know.
Tomorrow, I will be watching them take their wedding vows to each other and as I think about this wonderful and joyous event, I can't help but smile. It has been a long time coming and soon I will not only be seeing them off to their new ship, but also to a new life as husband and wife.
They are the perfect couple and I only hope Beverly and I can be just as much of a perfect couple as Will and Deanna Riker. I really envy them.
